The replication generated an error (5): Access is denied.

Why it happens

  • The destination domain controller does not have the required access for replication.
  • The secure relationship or security context between controllers is unhealthy.
  • Administrative or ad-hoc replication was started by an identity without the required permissions.

How to fix it

  1. Review directory service permissions and domain controller computer-account health.
  2. Run the recommended DCDIAG and REPADMIN checks to confirm secure-channel and replication security state.
  3. Retry replication only after the security or permission issue is corrected.
