Adobe Creative Cloud installation failed with Error 505

Permission failure. (Error code: 505)

The Creative Cloud installer encountered a permission failure, meaning it was unable to write to or access a required file or folder due to insufficient user or system permissions.

  • The current user account does not have sufficient permissions to write to a required directory.
  • A managed or locked-down system configuration is preventing the installer from accessing system folders.
  • Group Policy or IT security settings are restricting write access to Adobe installation paths.
  1. Run the Creative Cloud installer as an administrator (right-click > Run as administrator).
  2. Check and correct file system permissions on the Adobe installation directories.
  3. On a work-managed device, contact the IT administrator to grant the necessary permissions or deploy the software through a managed package.
  4. Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove residual files and retry a clean installation.
