Adobe Creative Cloud installation failed with Error 19

A conflicting process is running on the device that is preventing the installation from completing. Return code 19 means the installer detected an active background process that must be closed before the installation can continue.

  • One or more background processes are running that conflict with the Adobe installer.
  • For Acrobat installations, Microsoft Office applications may be running with the PDFMaker add-in active.
  • Other Adobe applications or services are running in the background.
  1. Check the installation log file for the product that failed — it will list the conflicting processes.
  2. Close all identified conflicting processes using Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (macOS).
  3. For Acrobat, ensure all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) are closed before installing.
  4. Retry the installation once all conflicting processes have been stopped.
