Adobe Creative Cloud installation or update failed with Error 201

Error code: 201

A downloaded file was damaged, or the device was unable to connect to Adobe servers during the installation or update of a Creative Cloud app.

Error code: 201
  • The downloaded installation or update file is damaged or incomplete.
  • The device cannot connect to Adobe's servers due to a weak or restricted network.
  • A firewall is blocking the Creative Cloud desktop app from accessing the internet.
  • Antivirus software is interfering with the download or installation process.
  1. Verify that the device has an active internet connection, then select Retry in the Creative Cloud app.
  2. Switch to a different network (e.g., wired instead of Wi-Fi) if available.
  3. Review router or access point settings and ensure Adobe software and services are not blocked.
  4. If prompted by a firewall, allow the Creative Cloud desktop app to access the internet. If not prompted, temporarily disable the firewall and retry.
  5. Temporarily disable antivirus software and retry the installation.
  6. In an enterprise environment, contact IT to configure firewall settings to allow Adobe traffic.
