Why it happens

An older or incompatible version of the Adobe Genuine Service is present and the gccustomhook process cannot verify it.
The AdobeGCClient folder is corrupted or contains files from an incompatible previous version.

How to fix it

Close all Adobe apps and ensure no Adobe background processes are running.
Delete the AdobeGCClient folder at: Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AdobeGCClient; macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobeGCClient.
Relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app, which will reinstall the latest version of the Adobe Genuine Service.
Respond to the Adobe Genuine Service consent dialog when prompted.
